I had a very similar situation on US Rt 1 in 1991. I was on a traffic stop with a DUI and another DUI came by and hit me in the exact same spot as shown here. Unfortunately, he actually hit me and took off! Hit and run. Fortunately he was caught about a month later and justice was served. Traffic is by far the most dangerous thing for a Law Enforcement Officer to face while they are on their shift. It happens so fast, sometimes you don't have time to react. It happened to me a total of THREE times over my 31 years in Law Enforcement. Two as a pedestrian, one hit me in the car destroying the car! I was a Motorcycle cop for 13 years. That's a whole other story there. You talk about DANGEROUS! That job should automatically get hazard pay! Thank God this Trooper is OK. Stay safe Trooper.
